From March 2, 2023, the campus of Samarkand State Medical University buzzed with enthusiasm and spirit during the Annual Sports Festival 2023. Over the course of three thrilling weeks, students took part in seven competitive sports, building memories, showcasing talents, and bonding over shared victories and challenges. This grand celebration was a testament to the university’s commitment to promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and all-round development.
The Annual Sports Festival 2023 was officially inaugurated with the Football Tournament on March 3, 2023, at the Futsal Stadium, Monago Profilini, located in front of Hostel No. 1, Samarkand. The event began with a colorful ceremony attended by university officials, including the Chief Guest, Dr. Zafar Aminov, Pro-Rector of International Relations. The first match was filled with high energy, loud cheers, and a strong sense of team spirit.
From March 10 to 12, 2023, international students came together for the much-awaited Cricket Tournament, held at the Lokomotiv Sports Complex Vokzal, Samarkand. Players gave their all on the field—showcasing not just skills with the bat and ball, but also discipline, strategy, and sportsmanship. This tournament was a highlight of the sports festival and brought students together through the love of the game.
The Volleyball Tournament kicked off on March 25, 2023, with electrifying matches held late into the evening at Hostel No. 4 Manogu Profilini, Samarkand. The court was alive with booming serves, strategic spikes, and nonstop energy from the teams. Crowds gathered to cheer, creating a charged atmosphere where every point counted. The tournament highlighted athleticism, coordination, and the true spirit of friendly competition.
The Boys' Badminton Tournament, part of the Sports Festival 2023, was held over three thrilling days—March 14, 15, and 16. Hosted at Olimpia Zahiralari, Ibn Sino ko’chasi Street, near Hilton Garden Inn, Samarkand, the event featured intense matchups where players showed outstanding footwork, reflexes, and competitive spirit. From powerful smashes to strategic drop shots, every match was a blend of speed, precision, and sportsmanship
The second round of Sports Festival 2023 featured an energetic start with the Girls’ Badminton Tournament, held on March 5, 2023, at Girls Hostel No. 1, Manogu Profilini, Samarkand. With a grand opening ceremony and a crowd full of cheer, players competed fiercely while showcasing agility, coordination, and passion for the sport. The tournament highlighted the athletic talents of our female students and added vibrant energy to the festival.
